Fight the Crab

This summer, from 1 July to 30 September, the Vallée de Joux is inviting everyone to cycle in aid of cancer sufferers. A number of signposted routes await cyclists of all abilities, ready to wet their jerseys on the day of their choice to raise funds for the "Ligue vaudoise contre le cancer" (LVC).

"Fight the Crab" is the story of the strong bond between a sister and her brother. Between Charline, now cured of a very aggressive form of breast cancer, and Laurent, who closely followed his sister's fight against the disease. Moved by this experience, Laurent wanted to do something for those who fight cancer on a daily basis. And so 'Fight the Crab' was born, a summer event for cyclists of all abilities.

Cycling for a good cause

Are you a family, a Sunday cyclist or a seasoned pedaller? You're bound to find what you're looking for among the different routes proposed by Laurent. And here's the icing on the cake: each route includes timed sections so that those who want to can sprint against the others. In any case, you won't be sweating for nothing, as all the proceeds will go to the *Ligue vaudoise contre le cancer" (LVC), an association that offers local help to cancer sufferers and their families.

How does it work?

Once you have registered online, all you have to do is :

  • wait for your number to be emailed to you,
  • choose the route or routes that interest you,
  • go to the starting point on the day or days that suit you between 1 July and 30 September, as many times as you like,
  • drop by the Vallée de Joux Tourisme reception desk to pick up a small gift on presentation of your race number,
  • and... pedal!

    Sensibilisation and good practises

In order not to harm the natural areas crossed by these routes and their wildlife, please respect the following good practices:
    • I do not throw my rubbish in the countryside
    • If you come across a herd of cattle, go around the suckling cows and get off your bike if necessary.
    • I carefully close the gates and cow wires after I have gone through them
    • I warn walkers of my presence, walk past them at walking pace and treat them with respect
