Wild camping and bivouacking
In the canton of Vaud, wild camping in tents or bivouacs (without tents) is not permitted.
It is only tolerated in the following three situations:
- Sleep one night (not in a group) in the mountains, beyond the forest limit
- Sleeping on private land with the owner's permission
- Emergency bivouac
General bans exist for nature reserves, federal free districts and wildlife tranquillity zones.
