« The route » is the guiding theme of the Grand Tour of Switzerland covering some 1600 kilometres, encompassing four linguistic regions, five mountain passes through the Swiss Alps, eleven UNESCO World Heritage sites, two biospheres and twenty-two lakes. The Tour of Switzerland offers a concentration of spectacular sites and cultural excellence that is unrivalled worldwide.
Travel along the remote and peaceful scenic roads to soak up the charm and mystery of Vaudois Jura: that’s exactly what this stage of the Grand Tour of Switzerland offers between Lake Geneva and the Lac de Joux. After leaving the village of Vich, the route takes you to Begnins and through St-George before climbing to the Marchairuz pass offering a sweeping view of the Canton of Vaud, Lake Geneva and the chain of the Alps including the majestic Mont-Blanc.
From here you’ll want to turn the car radio off, roll down your windows and enjoy the soothing descent to the Vallée de Joux through rich forests and green pastures, right into the heart of the Swiss watchmaking industry.
The Grand Tour of Switzerland then takes you through the picturesque villages of Le Brassus, L’Orient following the Lac de Joux traversing Les Bioux, L’Abbaye and the lake front village of Le Pont.
