Camping in the Vallée de Joux

In order to allow as many people as possible to stay in the Vallée de Joux in good conditions, the region has two campsites with facilities by the lake, as well as parking areas where camping-cars are permitted.

Overviewing the lake from Le Rocheray, the Lac de Joux Campground offers campers a breath-taking view.

Farm Camping

Camping on the farm in Les Bioux is a privileged site in an exceptional setting.

Campers who stay in one of these two official sites and pay the tourist tax benefit from the many advantages offered by the ValPass guest card.
 

Official car parks for motorhomes

When the official campsites cannot meet the demand, different possibilities are offered to holders of motorhomes and vans.

Current rates

On these lots, parking a van is limited to 3 consecutive nights.
A fee of CHF 8.- per person per night is charged (children: free up to 16 years old).

Forest sites for vans and tents

These sites in the middle of nature are equipped with mobile toilets.
  • Risoud forest "Mézery", access via Le Brassus - Grandes Roches - Mézery (5.5 km away from Le Brassus) - Open from June to September - Equipped with dry toilets

  • Risoud forest "Le Solliat", access via Le Solliat - Cantine du Solliat (1 km away from Le Solliat, in the clearing on the left-hand side of the road) - Open in July & August - Equipped with chemical toilets

Toilets and a washbasin are available for campers. 
Firewood can be purchased on site.
Various leisure facilities are available free of charge (table tennis, trampoline, petanque, etc.)

Wild camping and bivouacking

In the canton of Vaud, wild camping in tents or bivouacs (without tents) is not permitted.
It is only tolerated in the following three situations:
  • Sleep one night (not in a group) in the mountains, beyond the forest limit
  • Sleeping on private land with the owner's permission
  • Emergency bivouac

General bans exist for nature reserves, federal free districts and wildlife tranquillity zones.
